Winter Tenerife Escape

There’s no better start to the year than escaping the cold British winter weather and jetting off to a gorgeous Canary Island. At the start of January my best friend and I set off for a week in the sunny island of Tenerife to celebrate her 21st Birthday – goals right? As always I thought I’d take plenty of pictures to show you our trip and just to make you that little bit jealous of the weather.

I’d never been to a Canary Island before, so this little volcanic gem was brand new for me to explore and well, lets just say walking 50 miles across the course of the week, we explored a-lot.

If you’re thinking of taking a trip to this island yourself here’s some places I would highly recommend visiting;

 – Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The capital of the island is an absolutely beautiful city with plenty of shops for the retail obsessed, packed full of culture and old buildings but also has incredible transport links. There is a free tram which takes you to the old capital La Laguna which is a quaint little town that is definitely worth a visit

La Terresitas. The man made beach at the north of the island is Tenerife’s golden sand beauty. One of the longest beaches on the island I would 100% recommend a visit to this beach, it truly is stunning. (There’s a picture of it later in the post)

Los Cristianos. The tourist capital of the island and, I’ll be honest, the touristy areas really aren’t my thing when it comes to islands like this purely because they’re so busy! However, on the day we visited we took around a 2 hour walk all the way down the coast where we discovered a cute little surf beach, hidden away from the main tourist hustle & bustle.

 I hope you enjoy these photos from my trip. If you’ve been to any of the places mentioned or shown, leave me a comment and let me know!
